The Department of Information Systems take great privilege in hosting ICIME 2010 at Leslie Commerce Building, Upper Campus,University of Cape Town on 25 - 26 March 2010 and it is their sincerest wish that you will experience and enjoy the magic of the multicultural and vibrant Mother City, Cape Town. The Department of Information Systems is passionate about research. Its mission is to prepare and produce world-class IS graduates, researchers and professionals that will meet the needs and face the numerous challenges of not only the South African IS industry, but also that of Africa and the rest of the world in general. True to the department’s vision of being a centre of excellence, is the drive to cultivate intellectual curiosity, innovative IS leadership, critical thinking as well as ethical and professional behaviour. A member of the department was recently bestowed with the LEO Lifetime Achievement Award which is considered the highest international recognition for an Information Systems professional. The department is also known to have an unbroken record of national awards at the Microsoft South Africa’s Imagine Cup competition. Important dates Abstract submission deadline - 3 September 2009 Notification of abstract acceptance - 10 September 2009 Final copy of full paper due - 22 October 2009 Notification of paper acceptance (with any requested changes) - 4 January 2010 Earlybird registration closes - 8 January 2010 Final paper submission (with changes) - 28 January 2010 Final author registration date - 18 February 2010 Registration news Earlybird discounts are available until 8 January 2010. There are special reduced rates for Supervisors and Students attending together as well as special reduced rates for group bookings. Publication opportunity Papers presented at the conference will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration. The proceedings have an ISBN and ECIME Proceedings are listed in the Thomson Index to Scientific and Technical Proceedings (ISTP), the Thomson Index to Scientific and Technical Proceedings (ISTP/ISI Proceedings), the Thomson Index to Social Sciences & Humanities Proceedings (ISSHP) and the Thomson Index to Social Sciences & Humanities Proceedings (ISSHP/ISI Proceedings). Selected papers will also be considered for publication in a special issue of the Electronic Journal of Information Systems Evaluation. The latest issue is now available on the journal website. The Journal is listed on the International Bibliography of Social Sciences (IBSS) and is rated level 1 in the Danish Government bibliometric lists. Conference status The closing date for abstract submissions is 3 September 2009. Applications are still being accepted to join the conference committee. Note to Authors: Due to the large number of papers expected for this conference, the committee only allows an author to present one paper. Therefore if multiple papers are accepted for presentation different co-authors need to present each paper. Author registration must be completed by 18 February 2010.
