Almost two thirds of all international conferences and meetings taking place in South Africa in 2009, chose Cape Town as their event destination, with twenty five percent of international meetings on the African continent occurring in Cape Town.
Cape Town sits at eighth position on the ICCA ranking for future scheduled international congresses over the next ten years. In the past year alone, (2009) the Cape Town International Convention Centre hosted 461 different events, including 35 international and 40 national conferences, 25 consumer exhibitions and 13 trade fairs.
